I like team sports because on the field and during a game all the teammates find common ground. We are there together with a common goal: trying to score, defend and win. When I play lacrosse I can feel myself getting better throughout every practice or every time I pick up the stick. It feels awesome to see that kind of progression during a season and year to year. Coaches are very important influences. When my coach would say something very simple like “nice shot Julia” or “good” it means a lot coming from someone with so much more experience that was once on my level as an athlete. Sometimes though, coaches compare people on the team without knowing teammates can take it personal or in the wrong way. I've seen that actually work the opposite way and instead of encouraging someone on the field it could make them feel like giving up.
